Hardware Warehouse is a retailer of low cost building materials and associated products, selling directly to predominately cash paying customers including homebuilders, home improvers, contractors, traders and Government organisations. It is fast becoming the low cost building material retailer of choice in its selected markets. While Hardware Warehouse has a diverse customer base, spread between contractors, DIY individuals and municipal/Government projects, a large portion of the companys customer base falls within the lower to middle income rural groups. The Company is experiencing a growing exposure to urban customers, which is a key part of its strategy, in addition to expanding its geographic footprint within the three provinces where it currently operates. The Company currently operates from 18 stores.Hardware Warehouse aims to be the low cost building material retailer of choice in selected markets. In order to implement its expansion strategy, the company will leverage its unique knowledge and experience of its target market and proven business model to roll out new stores within Southern Africa.The business conducted by Hardware Warehouse was established in 1996 in King Williams Town. Its vision was to provide the rural communities of the Eastern Cape with affordable building materials on a cash basis. The first warehouse-style operation quickly expanded to three other stores and from this base the company opened one to two further stores per year in the towns of Alice, Butterworth, Mdantsane, Ngcobo, Mthatha, Cofimvaba, Lusikisiki, Queenstown and Mtubatuba in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The company has opened two further stores in Mpumalanga, those being Hazyview and Bushbuckridge. The first being in Nelspruit, which opened in March 2009.Hardware Warehouse is a warm, welcoming maternal friend with a bright and cheery outlook on life.
