Caltex Carlu Motors
Chevron in South Africa markets its products under the Caltex brand, one of South Africas top four petroleum brands. Caltex was created in 1936 as a joint venture between Standard Oil Co. of California and the Texas Co., with each having equal ownership. The brand has operated in Asia, Africa and the Middle East as a committed energy provider ever since. With the merger of Chevron and Texaco in October 2001, Caltex became part of the ChevronTexaco family. In a move to present a clear, strong and unified presence in the global marketplace, ChevronTexaco Corporation changed its name to Chevron Corporation in May 2005. Chevron Corporation is one of the worlds leading integrated energy companies. With more than 53,000 employees, Chevron subsidiaries conduct business around the world. The Caltex brand is marketed in nearly 60 of the 180 countries Chevron operates within and is a highly valued company asset within the Chevron portfolio. Caltex products are available to South African customers via Chevron South Africa (Pty) Limited, with its headquarters in Cape Town, and more than 800 Caltex outlets outlets throughout the country, as well as other selected stores. As in all other markets around the world, Chevron intends to offer all customers the best product quality and service available. The Chevron South Africa team is available to help you find the best products to effectively meet your needs. Chevron South Africa employees more than 1500 people and forms part of the greater Africa-Pakistan-Middle East region, with its headquarters in Cape Town. The management structure is split into business units along key business functions – Products, Lubricants, Value Chain Optimization and Manufacturing, which are linked together by the Global Services Divisions (Finance, Public and Government Affairs, Human Resources, IT, Legal, Procurement and Audits). The Texas Company of South Africa was founded in 1911, and operated under this name until it became part of the Caltex group of companies in 1936. Early imports of paraffin would take between 3 to 4 months from the time of the order to delivery in Cape Town, arriving in packs of two 5-gallon tins packed in strong wooden boxes. Petrol was first sold from handcarts in tins, and later in steel drums, with hand pumps used to fill motor vehicles tanks. Caltex Oil South Africa has been recognized for the introduction of many “firsts”, the most notable of which was the establishment of the first filling station in Sea Point, Cape Town. The company in Africa has built a legacy of innovation, success and commitment – all based on partnership, which continues to the present. We are intent on building a company in Africa for the long-term, which is a growth company, and in doing so we need the most talented people. It is a clear strategic decision to build the business on African talent.

Bad bad bad!
Apart from the unprofessional "small-town" staff, who at times you can appreciate. How they speak to and about clients - unprofessional, cussing at them and just being nasty. They have never given me any attitude however. In such a small town you want to support the locals, unfortunately this station isn't functionable when it's loadshedding (big drawback)
The reason for my review however, is that, even though I'm a regular and always drive to and from Mosselbay and ONLY Fill at Carlu's, today was the last time they will be seeing me.
I noticed my petrol light came on whilst on commute to work (work starts at 7am) luckily I was early enough and drove past work to fuel up at Carlu's.
It was exactly 06:39am. All the staff were hanging around inside, chatting. I called the lady over who first just kept on signing 7. She eventually came out. When I explained my situation, that my petrol light came on, I drove past work to come fill up and work at 7am...
Haha. She told me that they cannot help me as they dip at 6:45am and only open at 7am sharp, then she closed the sliding door in my face.
What the actual f***. Carlu motors, I am very sorry but this is unacceptable and I regret to say that I work for the biggest farm and business in the area.
You will not have my support and I will make sure to advise any of my colleagues, friends, family and acquaintances to support your business.
Train your staff. They are rude and uninformed.
