Adonis and Christina Avraamides started The Bread Basket in 1982 when they realised there was a demand for good pure bakery & delicatessen food, hand in hand with personalised service. The Bread Basket was an instant success in Sandton, Johannesburg & far afield as Pretoria. The Bread Basket is known for their vast fresh bakery & delicatessen selection such as croissants, ciabatta breads, muffins, cakes & slices, sandwiches, quiches, biscuits, french macarons and important meat & cheese delicatessen items. We cater for every special occasion by offering wide selection of food platters & novelty birthday cakes. The in-house Cafe was introduced in the late 90s & serves the well known international brand of Illy coffee. There are currently six stores in some of the best Shopping Malls namely Eastgate, Sandton City, The Glen, Morningside, Greenstone in Johannesburg and then Parkview in Pretoria. These six family owned and operated stores ensure that the high standard of quality food and service is maintained, earning the Bread Basket numerous accolades over the past few years. The Bread Basket prides itself by not using any preservatives in its products and all recipes, which originate from Christina & Adonis, are made from scratch using pure ingredients.
