Yossi's Moroccan Restaurant Popular
Yossi’s : Hebrew origin “ Yosseph = Joseph : meaning 'God will increase/enlarge', represents people who are impulsive, instinctive, like change, dynamic, need freedom and space with unconventional personality. Able to do several things at once, adaptive, charismatic and acceptable in society. A sense of distinction.
Yossi's is a vibey day-night Moroccan restaurant started in 2004 by Dave & Darryl Hofmann in an old house situated in the heart of Glenwood. It started as a small day-time café but soon grew into a late night venue due to its vibe, interesting and well priced food. 2014 brought with it a change in ownership / management, yet maintaining and improving on its unique style. Yossi’s is now owned by The Rampono family. It has received great attention from several magazines due to its uniqueness and for the renaissance it has created in the area. A great following of international and local patrons from Ballito to Hillcrest are attracted to Yossi's eclectic mix of furniture and couches on the inside (non-smoking) and outside (smoking). This medium size restaurant boasts a 120 seater capacity. Nestled away is the hidden treasure of Yossi’s – The Africa Bar! Our idyllic, private function area, brings together a sense of Morocco in Africa! Perfect for birthdays, family and company functions.
Our food is a mixture of Moroccan, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes with big emphasis on social eating. The starters are a wide variety of mezze items from humus and tahina to stuffed falafel with feta and herbed lamb meatballs stuffed with olives. Mains include dishes from lamb tagines to our popular Moroccan chicken parcel slow baked in phyllo pastry, not forgetting our tender and tasteful lamb shanks. You can chill on a couch and enjoy a hookah pipe with our famous house special Turkish Tiger shooter which is a condensed milk and cream based nightcap. A selection of styled cocktails are available for those wishing for a casual drink. Sunday afternoons are somewhat of an icon with great showcases of emerging jazz talent performing out on the verandah. In keeping with our Middle Eastern theme are our regular array of hip swirling belly dancers also entertain our patrons on the last Friday of every month. We thank you for visiting Yossi’s and trust that you will enjoy your Moroccan experience! We look forward to you joining us again soon!
